April 30: St. Pius V

BORN:  1504 in Italy
DIED: 1 May. 1572
CANONIZED: 1712.

This saint was formerly called Michael. His entire life was guided and focused on Christian maxims.

At the age of fifteen, he received the habit of Dominicans. He actually and immediately became the model of Religious perfection.

After his priestly ordination, he taught philosophy and theology for many years. He was a bishop, after which a cardinal and lastly a pope.

He it was that elevated the feast of the Holy Rosary to be observed on the First Sunday of October. He died on May 1, 1572 in the year he gained victory of Lepanto against Turks.
