Annual retreats are scheduled to give the Sisters the opportunity to take some time away from work and other obligations in order to renew their spiritual strength. This period enables the Sisters to deepen their personal relationship with God, do a self-evaluation and renew their commitment to Christ in the service of God and His people.
As is the custom, the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus Canada Mission had this great opportunity from July 2-7, 2024, at the archdiocesan cottages in Albert Beach, MB. It was a time of solitude and quietness as well as both physical and spiritual nourishment.
The retreat was preached by Most Rev. Michael Apochi, Bishop of Otukpo Diocese in Benue State Nigeria.
The atmosphere at the beach gave the Sisters the opportunity to connect more with nature and appreciate the Creator for the beauty of creation. Each day began with Holy Mass, followed by a talk and time for personal prayers and reflections. We ended every evening with Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament.
